WUF12

Cairo, Egypt

WUF12

The WUF12, convened by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), will take place in Cairo, Egypt. This will be the first time in over 20 years, the forum is returning to the African continent, and it is the first time that it will be held in a megacity.

Egypt welcomed the official announcement on the selection of Cairo as the WUF12 host in 2024.

“We are pleased that the Twelfth Session of the World Urban Forum will come back to the African continent for the first time since the inaugural session of the World Urban Forum, which took place at UN-Habitat headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya in 2002,” Egypt’s Deputy Permanent Representative said on behalf of the Government of Egypt at the Executive Board session of UN-Habitat in Nairobi.

“Egypt’s selection came after a rigorous review by the selection committee which also considered a number of other bids. I thank the Government of Egypt and City of Cairo for their commitments to host the WUF12 in 2024,” said the Executive Director of UN-Habitat.

As one of the most inclusive international gatherings on urban issues, we invite everyone to join us on the road to WUF12 and to make sustainable, inclusive, and resilient cities a reality!
