Betty Osei Bonsu
Betty Osei Bonsu is a leader in sustainable community projects, having pioneered the Zero Waste Cities Project in Ghana and Uganda. She founded the Green Africa Youth Organization (GAYO) Eco Club to inspire youth activism across Africa. Her work focuses on community-driven strategies and stakeholder engagement, diverting waste from landfills and advocating for environmental sustainability and social equity. Betty played a key role in drafting Ghana’s first zero waste strategy for Municipal Assemblies, demonstrating her innovative approach to environmental challenges and influencing policy. She also founded B. Inspired with Stories from Africa, a storytelling platform that amplifies the voices of communities engaged in climate action, highlighting indigenous knowledge as a solution to environmental issues. Currently, Betty is the Country Manager for GAYO in Uganda and a Master's student at UNU-EHS.
