This training event explores the ethical and regulatory challenges of integrating AI and surveillance technologies into urban planning in military-occupied territories, with a focus on human-centric approaches, impact on civilians, and the need for an international regulatory framework. The case study for this training examines the use of AI and surveillance technology in Palestinian territories under military observation and control.
Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding from a human-centric approach of the potential risks and harms that the technologies pose to the civilian populations of military-occupied cities. In addition, they will gain an understanding of how the technologies affect the everyday lives of civilians living in military-occupied cities. Furthermore, they will built a knowledge base in actionable recommendations for ensuring ethical deployment of AI/surveillance in urban military contexts.
