This collaborative workshop empowers local governments and practitioners to tackle urban heat using nature-based solutions. Participants will gain tools and insights to integrate these solutions into effective, equitable climate adaptation strategies
This workshop will introduce participants to the partners’ ongoing work on developing guidance and solutions on urban heat, and train them to assess heat risk and implement mitigation solutions in their cities. It will also examine how nature-based solutions are vital for addressing climate change and inequality, enabling officials to interact with experts on integrating NbS into urban governance for climate adaptation and sustainable, resilient growth.
By the end of this training event, participants will be able to:
- Apply the Urban Heat Handbook's guidance to assess heat risk and plan mitigation actions
- Explain how NbS build resilience and adapt to climate risks
- Analyze NbS success factors in vulnerable urban contexts globally
- Use policy frameworks for NbS design and implementation, recognizing potential for cross-regional knowledge exchange
