Dive into "A New Pattern Language for Growing Regions" applied to your city or neighborhood, adapting the urban patterns published with UN-Habitat and other partners (in the book, online wiki, and "playing cards"). Pattern languages are a proven methodology of participatory, locally adaptive design, consistent with the New Urban Agenda's call for "open, user-friendly and participatory data platforms using technological and social tools" (paragraph 160). Use the patterns, or write your own!
1. Participants will be able to explain the pattern methodology, its history, and its usefulness in implementing the New Urban Agenda and SDG11.
2. Participants will be able to apply pattern methodology in creating healthier, more people-friendly planning and retrofitting of cities, towns and neighborhoods, especially in developing countries.
3. Participants will be able to identify and utilize resources for further pattern planning toward effective localized implementation of the NUA and SDGs.
