Summary

Persons with disabilities are one of the most marginalised groups in cities. Local actions are needed to address accessibility barriers. Despite accessibility being an obligation and a core commitment of NUA and SDG 11, progress is slow. In response, this training will provide opportunities for local decision-makers and urban practitioners to discuss barriers and find practical solutions to accessibility issues, equipping them with innovative tools and resources to support accelerated action.

Objectives

1. Increased understanding of accessibility barriers faced by persons with disabilities and how to address these across organisational practices and urban life.
2. Increased understanding of different accessibility domains and their relation to a human rights-based approach.
3. Increased confidence in using tools and methods to guide actions addressing accessibility in organisations across levels and contexts, including how to effectively work with Organisations of Persons with Disabilities.
