Objectives

- Highlighting the multiple roles played by green spaces in cities
- Emphasising the critical situation regarding the diminishing areas and role of green spaces in Cairo because of urban development
- Critically investigating and discussing the balance between urban development and environmental conservation
- Opening the discussion about the future of our cities especially Cairo and similar cities where urban development is threatening the well-being of people
- Aligning the discussion to the broader context of SDG 11 and the role of green spaces in achieving sustainable and resilient cities
- Raising awareness about the negative effects of losing green spaces in Cairo, including environmental, social and health-related impacts
- Advocating for the integration of green spaces into urban planning for more sustainable and resilient cities
- Building partnerships and encouraging collaboration between relevant stakeholders towards inspiring action towards protecting and increasing green spaces
