Summary

Keeping the billions of people who walk and cycling every day safe and protected is essential to achieving:

1. Paris Climate Goals
2. The New Urban Agenda
3. A multitude of Sustainable Development Goals
4. The global road safety targets
5. And beyond!

Many UN agencies – including UNEP, UN-Habitat, UNICEF, UNECE and WHO have been supporting cities and national government and regional and global advocacy for Active Mobility through their various ‘lenses’ of the environment, cities, children, economic development and health.

This event will showcase the work and collaboration of the United Nations on the topic of Active Mobility and highlight opportunities for joint working with the global community.

Objectives

The key objectives of this event include raising awareness of the essential and urgent nature of investing in the needs of pedestrians and cyclists, showcasing the contribution that investment in active mobility plays in the NUA, SDGs, NDCs and beyond, sharing joint working and collaboration in active mobility – at city, national, regional and global levels across the UN system and facilitating a discussion on opportunities for collaboration with the global community.
