The aim is to bring together government officials, non-profit organizations, businesses, and academic institutions to discuss initiatives focused on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The event will begin with a keynote address by the Head of Yekaterinburg, Mr. Orlov, emphasizing the city's commitment to sustainable development and the importance of collaboration across sectors to achieve the SDGs. The city's efforts in promoting culture, supporting the economy, improving society, protecting the environment, empowering youth, and enhancing governance will be highlighted as key pillars of their approach.
Discussions at the event will cover cultural initiatives promoting social cohesion, diversity, and heritage preservation; economic aspects such as innovation, entrepreneurship, and job creation; social investments in services, healthcare, education, and housing; and environmental sustainability efforts focusing on carbon emissions reduction.
Yekaterinburg has also prioritized empowering youth through programs involving them in decision-making, leadership, and community development. These initiatives aim to build a responsible and active citizenry committed to sustainable and inclusive society.
The city's governance approach emphasizes transparency, accountability, and citizen participation through open data policies, anti-corruption measures, and public consultation mechanisms. Good governance practices have strengthened democracy, promoted trust in institutions, and enhanced the effectiveness of public policies and programs.
The event will provide a platform for stakeholders to engage in discussions, and networking opportunities to share best practices, exchange ideas, and build international relations on the topics highlighted above.
