Miyamoto International and the Global Resilience Partnership (GRP) are convening a panel discussion in support of the US Government's PREPARE initiative, which focuses on bolstering climate resilience globally. The event brings together leading experts in informal settlements, urban resilience, policy and governance, and innovative financing to explore comprehensive approaches to climate-resilient housing.
With a focus on developing countries, Miyamoto will showcase two key innovations: the Guide for Climate Resilient Retrofits and a Living Repository. These resources, developed through the Climate Resilient Housing Solutions Challenge, offer practical solutions for enhancing community resilience. The Guide provides extensively researched and crowd-sourced retrofitting strategies, emphasizing disaster-resistant techniques, sustainable materials, and nature-centric solutions. The Living Repository serves as a dynamic knowledge hub, cataloging case studies that address various environmental hazards through resilient construction, innovative materials, and enabling policies.
The Global Resilience Partnership will complement these tools with insights from the Resilience Evidence Forum, highlighting practical approaches for policy-making and community engagement. The panel will expand the discussion beyond technical solutions to explore critical implementation pathways – from financing mechanisms and governance frameworks to community-driven initiatives in informal settlements.
This multifaceted dialogue aims to spark global collaboration on scalable, cost-effective strategies for housing climate resilience, bringing together technical expertise, policy insights, and innovative financing solutions to create safer, more sustainable living environments.
Our event brings together diverse expertise—from technical solutions to policy and financing—alongside two key outputs from our climate resilience challenge: the Guide for Climate Resilient Retrofits and the Living Repository. These resources, complemented by insights from GRP's Resilience Evidence Forum, demonstrate our commitment to democratizing resilience information and implementation pathways, particularly important in developing countries where such resources are scarce. By providing practical guidance and diverse implementation strategies, we bridge knowledge gaps from grassroots to government levels.
