Summary

The event will launch the Third Edition of the Global State of National Urban Policy, co-developed by OECD and UN-Habitat. The report monitors, analyses and evaluates the progress on the state of national urban policy at the global level. Building on the two previous editions (2018, 2021), the report shows key trends, country experiences and other cross-cutting thematic topics. This 3rd edition especially focuses on how national urban policy is addressing two key topics: a) affordable, adequate and sustainable housing and b) urban resilience, providing evidence and policy implications for urban leaders. The launch event will highlight the main findings of the report, which will serve as a basis of discussion of a panel composed of high-level representatives of national governments, regional bodies, development partners, and international organisations.

Objectives

• Present the main findings and key messages of the report.
• Disseminate the report to policymakers and practitioners.
• Convene high-level representatives of national governments, international organisations and development partners to discuss the findings and share country experiences.
• Discuss the role and raise profile of national urban policy in the current urban development contexts including implementation of SDGs and New Urban Agenda.
• Trigger a discussion on the role of national urban policy to address global urban challenges like housing and resilience.
