Summary

Amid the turbulent times of the 2020s, we cannot afford to not learn radically to generate wisdom (=learn) and lose knowledge and experiences stemming from urban projects, experiments, pilot studies, neighbourhood creativity, etc. ever again to address the anthropogenic crises.
Inspiration, stories, narratives and accessible knowledge are essential to inspire empower urban actors and residents to take action, shape their environments and contribute to achieving global ambitions and goals with local actions. However, too often, experiences and knowledge(s) related to urban transformations are not shared in accessible, useful and engaging ways.

The mission of the Cities Reimagined Podcast no valuable knowledge or experience in urban transformation is lost, promoting a culture of learning from past endeavours to guide the much-needed urban transformations. Going beyond ‘simple’ and linear communication and dissemination activities, Cities Reimagined aims to serve as a bridge, translating intricate urban development projects into accessible, engaging narratives, stories, and policy recommendations and thereby facilitating a deeper public engagement and understanding of urban phenomena.

Cities Reimagined is a platform for highlighting the stories and motivations of people driving change, deriving key messages and allowing the listeners to get inspired to become the best urban change makers they can possibly be.

In this library sessions we will discuss the main outcomes of the first season of the Cities Reimagined Podcast which brought together urban change makers from around the planet: From Cape Town in Africa, to Sao Paulo in Brazil, to the Scandinavian Capital of Stockholm. The result are deep conversations which aim to inspire and allow people to connect to the mindset of those driving change.

We will touch upon the necessity to different forms of communication to engage different publics in urban transformation and why we need a shift in modern culture and the arts to allow us to address the human-made crises of our time effectively.

Besides providing a brief overview of the main results of thirteen episodes of the Cities Reimagined Podcast, the session will give a voice to those change makers who were part of season one.

On stage, we will discuss the importance of new ways of communicating difficult urban topics and how engaging on personal levels helps to inspire.
