AI and Cities : guidelines for an ethical use of AI by local authorities

The event will be used to launch a joint publication by UN-Habitat and Mila on the topic of Artificial Intelligence and Cities with, the entire event focusing on the cross-cutting themes and the salient points of the publication. The findings of the report will be presented followed by a discussion on the implication of the findings and how the recommendations can be actioned by cities. (5 minutes - to be decided if it will be pre-recorded or live) - The event will be kicked off by a short high level presentation of the publication . (40 minutes - live) - The rest of the event will consist of a panel discussion followed by a Q&A with the public. During the panel, each panelist will be asked to answer questions that will have been prepared in advance. Some questions will be addressing directly the purpose and content of the White Paper (i.e. “How do you think this paper can help cities guide their AI procurement ?”) and others will bring the attention on broader discussions around important topics that are raised in the paper (i.e. “What do you think will be the biggest challenge for responsible integration of AI technologies in cities”). There will also be a focus on real use cases in order to showcase how the White Paper can be relevant in cities' real life decision making process. (15 minutes - live + online) - Finally, the last portion of the event will be used for a question and answer session with the participants. The moderator will be taking questions from the audience in person and from the virtual participants.
